The seamless one piece .080 spun aluminium roof flashing allows for a waterproof installation to the roofing system of choice. No galvanic corrosion or rusting is possible.
The durable large diameter aperture is made of highly polished material that provides over 98% total reflectivity. Tube joints are mechanically fastened for no chance of coming apart.
The positioning of the diffuser delivers maximum zonal cavity light distribution.

As the sun traverses the sky, the Apollo™ Light Pipe interrupts the most light possible and delivers it to the floor where it is needed. Integrating the Apollo Light Pipe with the High Intensity Fluorescent (HIF) platform efficiently utilizes the energy from the sun throughout the day while maintaining the desired foot candles in a facility.

The modular plug and play design of Orion's platform makes installation of the wireless controller quick and cost effective. No hard wiring is necessary. The removable ballast pack allows for a variety of ballast combinations to deliver the facilities desired foot candles while using the least amount of energy possible.

The photocell sensor is mounted in locations that views incoming daylight, typically aimed at the light pipe. The sensor monitors the incoming foot candles and signals the controller on the high intensity fluorescent system to turn half or the entire system off. The foot candle requirements are set by the wireless web based system and can be adjusted as needed.

The Apollo™ Light Pipe meets or exceeds heavy commercial performance levels as specified by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Windows and Doors Manufacturers Association (WDMA) for air, water and structural tests.

The internal and external seals keep warm moist building air from entering the tubular unit and condensing on the upper dome. Independent laboratory testing found no water penetration and minimal air infiltration - less than .01 cfm/ft2. The lack of air infiltration keeps dust and bugs out of the pipe which can reduce light output.

The aluminium flashing construction is non-corrosive and will not rust. Lack of holes in the collector dome eliminate stress concentrations. The glazing quality acrylic collector dome material is resistant to degradation and yellowing. In independent structural load testing, the Apollo light pipe withstood 80 pounds per square foot of pressure which surpasses heavy commercial rating requirements.

The Apollo™ Light Pipe geometry is designed to capture and control light with advanced highly reflective materials, whereas skylights allow uncontrolled light to enter the space. This uncontrolled light decreases visual comfort and adds significant solar heat gain during daylight hours. Opaque or white glazing on certain skylights reduce the amount of sunlight delivered by up to 40% as compared to clear glazing.
The Apollo Light pipe is a sealed system, (dome, pipe and diffuser) with better insulating qualities than a typical glazed unit skylight. The completely sealed system keeps moist building air from entering the dome where it could condense.

The round shape of the Apollo Light Pipe prevents the dam effect associated with square or rectangular skylights which creates water, snow and ice build up. The light pipe flashing is designed to be sealed to the roof material and then over the top to create a dual seal.
Orion will work with your roofer to ensure a cost effective and reliable installation of the Apollo Light Pipe - regardless of your roof type. Because the light pipe arrives fully assembled, a qualified roofer needs to cut the hole, seal and secure the flashing to the roof deck and run a final seal over the top of the flashing. Installation will not disrupt operations because the light pipe can be installed completely from the roof.
A primary seal for the roof and secondary seal over the flashing create a waterproof installation. Counter flashing options are available to further protect flashing from weathering, but are not needed in most applications.

Pre-punched holes in the flashing allow easy access to screw the flashing to the deck to preserve the roof's structural integrity. Primary and secondary seals along with numerous design elements make for a secure, waterproof install.
